Fajing Sun enters as the slight trader favorite at ATP 264 and No. 8 seed against Maximus Jones (317) in the Miyazaki Challenger round of 32 on hard courts, reflecting their lone head-to-head where Sun prevailed 7-6, 6-1 in a 2022 M15 event. Both arrive off recent Yokkaichi Challenger action, with the 29-year-old Chinese Sun posting a 7-8 2026 record and stronger hard-court history (56.7% wins career), while 21-year-old Thai-Australian Jones (2-3 lately) shows promise from SEA Games gold but fell in straight sets to local Yasutaka Uchiyama last week. Expect a competitive baseline battle on medium-fast hard, with Sun's experience edging sentiment amid even-money implied probabilities.
