Elon Musk's March 10 announcement that X Money—the social platform's digital payments system—will enter early public access this month has anchored trader sentiment around an imminent launch, featuring peer-to-peer transactions, bank deposits, and debit cards. This follows X securing money transmitter licenses across most U.S. states and hiring a crypto-savvy design lead in late March, bolstering technical readiness amid competition from established fintechs like PayPal and Venmo. A U.S. Senate Banking Committee letter on April 14 requests details on compliance and risks, introducing mild regulatory headwinds. Traders eye end-of-April resolution criteria, with any delays from technical glitches or scrutiny potentially shifting timelines into May.
