Trader consensus strongly favors Janez Janša (82%) as Slovenia's next prime minister after the March 22, 2026, parliamentary elections produced a hung National Assembly, with his Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) securing 28 seats to Robert Golob's Freedom Movement's 29. Golob's coalition talks have stalled amid policy sticking points and reluctance from smaller parties, compounded by the April 10 election of center-right Resni.ca leader Zoran Stevanović as speaker, signaling a rightward shift. Post-election math now supports an SDS-led majority via alliances with New Slovenia (Jernej Vrtovec at 7.4%) and The Democrats (Anže Logar at 7.4%), with President Nataša Pirc Musar poised to award Janša an exploratory mandate ahead of an investiture vote.
