Transitional President Ahmed al-Sharaa has solidified control over Syria through key recent developments, including a February 2026 ceasefire with Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces that integrated them under state authority and a March ceasefire consolidating territorial gains. His March 5 announcement of government minister evaluations signals internal governance reforms, while international engagement—such as U.S. delisting from terrorist designations and UN sanctions relief—bolsters legitimacy amid threats from ISIS remnants and regional tensions like the Iran conflict. Absent major coups, revolts, or no-confidence challenges in the past 30 days, traders' 78% consensus on "No" reflects his strengthening position during the transitional phase, though minority concerns and jihadist holdouts pose longer-term risks ahead of 2026's end.
