Cristopher Sánchez commands 90% trader consensus as WBC strikeouts leader after racking up 18 strikeouts across two dominant starts for Venezuela, outpacing the field by seven with only pool play remaining and his team advancing to semifinals. His elite slider and command have fueled a 13.5 K/9 rate, exploiting weaker lineups while others like Paul Skenes (limited innings) and Logan Webb (rough outing) lag. Market pricing reflects the wisdom of crowds betting on his workload edge in high-leverage spots. Realistic challenges include an early exit injury, bullpen overuse capping his innings, or a long-shot surge from multi-start relievers like Griffin Jax if matchups align perfectly.
