The 2026 Ohio gubernatorial contest remains tightly balanced following Republican Vivek Ramaswamy’s primary victory and Democrat Amy Acton’s nomination, with recent April polling showing the candidates essentially tied or separated by just a few points. An open seat after term limits on the incumbent has drawn strong contenders from both parties, producing polling averages near 47-49 percent that align with the current near-even trader consensus on party control. Voter enthusiasm gaps, economic concerns, and turnout patterns in this battleground state continue to offset Ohio’s longer-term Republican lean, while the absence of major late-breaking events has prevented either side from establishing a sustained lead. Further candidate positioning, debates, or shifts in national conditions before November could widen the margin.

A candidate shall be considered to represent a party in the event that he or she is the nominee of the party in question. Candidates other than the Democratic or Republican nominee (e.g., Greens, Libertarian, independent) may be added at a later date.
Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party.
The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on the official certification.
