Minnesota Governor Tim Walz remains in office despite intense scrutiny over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scandal in the state's child care programs, primarily involving Somali-owned daycares, which erupted in late 2024 and led to federal fund freezes by the Trump administration. Walz announced in early January 2026 that he would not seek a third term amid Republican calls for his resignation from lawmakers and the congressional delegation, but he defiantly pledged to serve out his term ending January 2027. Recent DHS leadership changes, including a May shakeup demoting temporary commissioner Shireen Gandhi just before her confirmation hearing, highlight persistent audit and investigation pressures. Traders should watch for escalating federal probes, legislative hearings, or new charges that could shift dynamics ahead of the November 2026 election.

If it becomes impossible for Tim Walz to resign or to announce his resignation (e.g., due to his removal from office by other means, etc.), this market will immediately resolve to "No."
For this market to resolve to "Yes," it is only necessary that Tim Walz announce that he has resigned or will resign. Whether he actually resigns will have no bearing on the resolution of this market.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the US federal government or the government of Minnesota; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
