Scottie Scheffler holds the top spot in the 2026 U.S. Open market at Shinnecock Hills due to his world No. 1 ranking, consistent ball-striking, and pursuit of a career Grand Slam, even amid a recent putting slump. Rory McIlroy follows as the next tier with strong major experience and recent form, while players like Jon Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Xander Schauffele cluster closely behind because the demanding layout rewards precise iron play, course management, and resilience in wind and firm conditions. The bunched probabilities reflect a historically deep field at this major, where past champions, strong ball-strikers, and recent PGA Tour winners all retain realistic paths amid typical variability in outcomes.
