Elon Musk's March announcement of X Money's early public access rollout in April 2026 has fueled trader anticipation for the platform's evolution into a financial super app, featuring 6% APY on balances, peer-to-peer payments, a customizable Visa debit card with 3% cashback, and FDIC-insured deposits via Cross River Bank partner. Recent momentum stems from X Head of Product Nikita Bier's teasers, the April launch of Cashtags for in-app stock and crypto price charts driving $1 billion in estimated trading volume, and hiring of ex-Aave executives hinting at future crypto capabilities. However, Senator Elizabeth Warren's April 14 letter flags risks around consumer protection and national security, introducing regulatory headwinds. Traders eye full U.S. rollout confirmation by month-end amid competitive pressure from Venmo and PayPal.
