Trader consensus in the NCAAM assists per game leader market shows a dead heat between Michigan State's Jeremy Fears Jr. at 48.5% and Purdue's Braden Smith at 47.0%, with Jacksonville State's Themus Fulks trailing at 37.0%, driven by their blistering early-season paces through the first handful of games. Fears exploded for 12 assists in Michigan State's latest win over Niagara, boosting his average to 9.3 APG on high usage in Tom Izzo's motion offense, while Smith countered with 11 dimes versus Texas Southern, holding a razor-thin 9.5 APG edge amid Purdue's deliberate tempo favoring his playmaking. Fulks' 8.7 APG benefits from Lipscomb's up-tempo style but faces tougher Big South slate ahead; all three log heavy minutes without competition from star transfers, keeping the race fluid amid soft non-conference schedules and injury-free reports heightening upset potential for any volume spike.
