Jay Clarke enters as the clear ranking favorite at No. 179 against No. 715 Gabriel Ghetu in the Bucharest Open qualifiers on outdoor clay, reflecting trader consensus on Clarke's superior experience at Challenger and ATP qualifier levels. The 27-year-old Brit recently exited Miami qualifying (hard) and Kigali Challenger round of 16 (clay), showing competitive form despite losses, while 18-year-old Romanian wild card Ghetu, buoyed by home crowd support, lost his latest UTR Pro Tennis Tour match in Targu Mures. No head-to-head history exists; Ghetu's youth and clay familiarity offer upset potential, but Clarke's stylistic edge and draw path to main draw loom large for this first-round clash scheduled March 29.
