Hiromi Abe enters this ITF W15 Fukui semifinal as the top seed and higher-ranked player, carrying a 2-0 head-to-head edge over compatriot Rinko Matsuda, including a straight-sets win on hard courts last year. Abe has maintained strong recent form on the surface, dropping just one set while advancing through the draw with convincing victories. Matsuda has also posted efficient results en route to the semifinals, winning her quarterfinal in straight sets. Both players compete on familiar hard courts in Japan, where home conditions and current match fitness shape the competitive balance in this lower-tier event.
