Anthropic continues iterating rapidly within its Claude 4 family, with Opus 4.7 announced in mid-April 2026 featuring gains in coding benchmarks, vision capabilities, and agentic tools, following earlier 4.6 releases earlier in the year. This steady cadence of incremental updates, rather than a full generational jump, has shaped trader views on when a model officially named Claude 5 or higher will arrive, with credible reports pointing to a Q2 or Q3 2026 window for a major release such as Sonnet 5. Leaks referencing codenames like Fennec and internal models like Mythos add to expectations around improved reasoning and lower inference costs. Competitive dynamics with OpenAI and Google models, alongside Anthropic’s focus on safety and developer ecosystem growth, remain key swing factors, while any official announcements at upcoming events could quickly shift market-implied odds on the timing.

For this market to resolve to "Yes," Claude 5 must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must be clearly defined and publicly announced by Anthropic as being accessible to the general public.
Claude 5 refers to a product explicitly named Claude 5 (e.g. Claude 5.0 would count), or one that is recognized as a successor to Claude 4, similar to the progression from Claude 2 to Claude 3. Products labeled as Claude 4.5 or similar will not count for this market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Anthropic, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.
