In the Credit One Charleston Open first round on green clay, No. 61 Shuai Zhang faces No. 108 Yuliia Starodubtseva in their head-to-head debut on March 30. Veteran Zhang (37), with a 2022 Lyon clay title and Roland Garros R16 experience, enters at 8-8 YTD after a recent Miami loss to Sorana Cirstea, leveraging her tour savvy against the younger Starodubtseva (26), who prefers hardcourts but posted WTA clay wins like R16 Madrid last year and sits 7-8 YTD. No injuries reported; green clay's moderate speed favors Zhang's baseline game, though Starodubtseva's qualifier momentum adds upset potential amid even trader consensus. Weather and warmups loom as key factors.
