Belinda Bencic enters her second-round matchup against Dayana Yastremska at the Credit One Charleston Open with a commanding 4-1 head-to-head advantage, capped by a gritty 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 comeback win over the Ukrainian in Miami's round of 128 earlier this month—their first encounter since Bencic's maternity leave. Yastremska, ranked around No. 50, impressed in her tournament opener yesterday, rallying from 3-5 down to defeat Anastasia Zakharova 7-5, 6-2 on the green clay surface where she discussed adapting her aggressive baseline game. Bencic, leveraging her 2022 Charleston title and 2023 runner-up finish plus a 78-47 career clay record, arrives in strong form after deep runs at Indian Wells and Miami, though this marks their initial clay-court clash amid favorable outdoor conditions.
