Viktoriya Tomova enters as the clear favorite against Jennifer Brady in the Credit One Charleston Open first round on green clay, buoyed by her recent qualification run where she overcame a set deficit in the final against a strong opponent to secure main-draw entry. Ranked around No. 163, the Bulgarian leads their head-to-head 1-0 from a 2018 Brisbane qualifier win and boasts solid clay-court experience from her career-high No. 46 peak. Brady, a wild card at No. 744 after a 26-month injury layoff ending in January 2026 ITF success, embraces a measured comeback but faces rust and a rankings gap; her hard-court pedigree offers limited green-clay edge. No injury concerns reported, with home-crowd support potentially aiding the American in this WTA 500 opener.
