Third-seeded Belinda Bencic, world No. 12 and former Credit One Charleston Open champion, faces 13th-seeded Sara Bejlek (No. 40) in the round of 16 on green clay, their first head-to-head encounter. Bencic advanced yesterday with a straight-sets victory, securing extra rest before Wednesday's matchup, while 20-year-old left-handed Czech Bejlek cruised past Anna Urhobo 6-1, 6-1 two days ago. Bencic's tactical depth, post-maternity resurgence (12-4 YTD), and surface familiarity—distinct from red clay—bolster trader consensus favoring her experience over Bejlek's breakout momentum (9-3 YTD), youth, and powerful baseline game. No injuries reported; outdoor conditions could amplify Bencic's all-court versatility against Bejlek's spin.
