St. Louis Cardinals visit Detroit Tigers for the AL club's home opener on April 3 at Comerica Park, pitting probable starters Michael McGreevy (STL RHP) against Framber Valdez (DET LHP), a key offseason acquisition bolstering Detroit's rotation. Both teams enter undefeated at 2-0 after opening series wins—Cardinals rallying past Rays with walk-off heroics from rookie JJ Wetherholt, Tigers handling Padres on the road. Notable absences include Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar (heel, 60-day IL until May) and Tigers shortstop Trey Sweeney (shoulder, out until late April), though bullpens remain deep. Tigers hold historical head-to-head edge (33-17 all-time), with Comerica's spacious dimensions favoring pitchers amid cool early-April forecasts.
