Alexander Shevchenko, ranked No. 84 with a solid career clay record of 189-117, faces Romanian wildcard Radu David Turcanu (No. 658) in the Bucharest Open ATP 250 round of 32 on outdoor clay, where no prior head-to-head exists. Shevchenko's trader-favored status stems from superior experience despite a modest 4-5 YTD mark and recent hard-court losses in Dubai, Indian Wells, and Phoenix, with zero clay matches in 2026. Turcanu counters with home-crowd energy, a 7-3 clay record this year fueling an 8-3 overall surge, making this best-of-three encounter highly competitive amid his upward momentum on the surface. No injuries or withdrawals reported ahead of the March 30 start.
