In the ATP Challenger Barletta on red clay, 18-year-old Czech Maxim Mrva (No. 277, career-high last week) faces compatriot Martin Krumich (No. 331) in the first round, a rematch where Krumich leads the head-to-head 2-0, including a 6-2, 6-4 final win over Mrva at M25 Pardubice last September and a prior Challenger clay victory. Krumich enters sharply after dominating qualies yesterday, crushing Radu Albot 6-1, 6-2 for his third qualifying success this year, signaling strong clay form amid a multi-week European swing. Mrva, a rising junior standout, bypassed qualies but carries pressure from recent mental lapses, like choking a 5-1 lead in a prior tiebreak. No injury concerns reported; expect a grinding baseline battle testing endurance and clay movement.
