In the Menorca Challenger round of 16 on clay, fifth seed Justin Engel (ATP 186) meets Spaniard Alejo Sanchez Quilez (ATP 528) in their first head-to-head matchup. Engel, an 18-year-old German rising star, advanced yesterday with a gritty 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 win over Iñaki Montes-De La Torre, marking his fifth career Challenger clay victory amid solid recent form on the surface. Home wildcard Sanchez Quilez, playing before local fans, rallied past higher-ranked Sandro Kopp 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 in blustery conditions, showing resilience but facing a steep ranking and experience gap. Traders weigh Engel's higher Elo rating, seeding, and momentum against Sanchez Quilez's crowd boost and clay familiarity, with no reported injuries or withdrawals.
