Francisco Cerundolo, the No. 20 seed riding momentum from a gritty Miami Masters round of 16 upset over Daniil Medvedev despite a leg concern, faces Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters round of 64 on clay. Tsitsipas, a three-time champion here (2021, 2022, 2024) and No. 49-ranked clay specialist with an 18-7 record over the past year, holds a perfect 2-0 head-to-head edge, thriving on the slow Monte Carlo courts that shield his one-handed backhand. Cerundolo's baseline grinding suits clay but fluctuates, while Tsitsipas' venue familiarity and recent Miami win over Alex de Minaur fuel trader debate in this closely contested matchup amid the ATP Masters 1000 clay swing opener.
