Higher-ranked Yuliia Starodubtseva (No. 108), the top seed in the Credit One Charleston Open qualifying draw, holds a clear edge over Ayana Akli (No. 236) in this first-round clash on green clay at Credit One Stadium. Starodubtseva's 7-8 YTD singles record reflects mixed recent form, including a straight-sets win over Antonia Ruzic in Qatar qualifying but losses to Caty McNally, Elvina Kalieva, and Elena-Gabriela Ruse amid several suspended matches due to weather. Akli, an American with minimal WTA exposure and a 0-3 ITF clay record, draws home-crowd support but lacks Starodubtseva's experience. No head-to-head history exists, and outdoor conditions risk further delays from possible showers.
