In the Credit One Charleston Open first-round clash on green clay, No. 77 Eva Lys enters with a ranking edge and 1-0 head-to-head lead over No. 95 Katie Volynets from their 2022 Lausanne clay qualifier encounter, bolstering trader consensus toward a competitive matchup. Lys, with a career WTA clay record of 11-12, returns from a knee injury that sidelined her a month ago but has played sparingly YTD at 1-2, including early Australian Open and United Cup exits. Volynets shows steadier 2026 form at 8-7, highlighted by Dubai and Indian Wells wins amid losses, though her clay ledger sits at 8-14; home-crowd support in Charleston could factor, with recent Miami first-round defeats for both underscoring upset potential absent late withdrawals or weather issues.
