In the Copa Colsanitas second round on Bogota's outdoor clay, fifth seed Tatjana Maria (WTA No. 59) faces qualifier Katarzyna Kawa (No. 132), with Kawa holding a 1-0 head-to-head edge from a 2019 hard-court win. Kawa enters with momentum after a straight-sets first-round victory over Carole Monnet, riding a sharp 6-3 clay record in 2026 and career 60% win rate on the surface. Maria, 38 and grass-specialist (51.9% WTA grass wins), labored past local wildcard Valentina Mediorreal Arias but owns a modest 39.5% clay success at WTA level amid recent hard-court losses in Miami and Indian Wells. No injury concerns reported; altitude and slow clay could amplify Kawa's grinding baseline game versus Maria's slice-and-volley style.
