Qualifier Kayla Day enters the Credit One Charleston Open first-round clash against wild card Paula Badosa with strong 2026 momentum, posting a 15-4 record including a second-round run at Indian Wells where she fell to Iga Swiatek and dominant qualifying wins here on green clay. Badosa, ranked No. 113 and a former world No. 2, seeks to rebound from chronic back injuries requiring cortisone injections and a recent 6-2, 6-1 Miami loss to Tatjana Maria Jovic, compounded by admitted mental struggles with on-court second-guessing. No head-to-head history exists; Badosa's clay pedigree contrasts Day's fresher form and home-country advantage amid favorable sunny weather around 70°F. Traders weigh Badosa's experience against her health uncertainties and Day's upset potential in this WTA 500 opener.
