Houston Astros head to Sutter Health Park for a key early AL West series against the Athletics starting April 3, with trader consensus likely favoring Houston amid Oakland's 0-3 start and rebuilding roster. The Astros, mixing a 1-2 early record after an Opening Day shutout loss to the Angels but flashing offensive firepower with eight runs in a recent frame, face bullpen vulnerabilities from recent injuries: Bennett Sousa's oblique strain (out until June), Ronel Blanco's elbow surgery (15-day IL), and Zach Dezenzo's elbow soreness. Oakland counters with young arms hampered by Gunnar Hoglund's lumbar strain (15-day IL), while Houston's rotation—anchored by Hunter Brown's ace form—holds a historical edge in head-to-heads and road splits. Expect focus on Astros' pitching depth and Athletics' home park adjustments in humid Sacramento conditions.
