The Afghanistan-Sri Lanka T20I series, slated for three matches in Sharjah from March 13-17, 2026—the first bilateral white-ball hosting by Afghanistan in the UAE—was postponed indefinitely just days before the opener due to escalating West Asia conflict disrupting flights and logistics. Afghanistan named opener Ibrahim Zadran as their new T20I captain, succeeding Rashid Khan, with a squad blending young talent and spinners like Khan and Noor Ahmad suited to UAE conditions. Sri Lanka enters with a dominant recent head-to-head edge, sweeping the 2024 T20I series 3-0 and winning their Asia Cup 2025 clash by six wickets. Rescheduling talks point to late 2026, amid both teams' solid recent T20 form but no major injury updates.
