Hiroki Moriya enters the Miyazaki Challenger first round as the slight ranking favorite at No. 462 over No. 532 Koki Matsuda after both qualified straight-sets yesterday—Moriya downing Yusuke Takahashi 7-5, 6-0 despite conceding two prior sets, while Matsuda dispatched Yusuke Kusuhara 6-4, 6-2 with fresher legs from five total qualy sets. The 35-year-old veteran's experience on home hard courts tempers concerns over his age and stature (5'6") against the taller 6'0" 25-year-old's reach and power potential, absent any head-to-head history. Recent Challenger form shows Moriya 2-3 in last five (loss to Imamura in Yokkaichi), Matsuda 2-2 (loss to Sun), with no reported injuries; local weather and Court 4 conditions could influence baseline rallies.
