Frances Tiafoe holds a significant edge entering the US Men's Clay Court Championships round of 16 against Rinky Hijikata, driven by his No. 18 ATP ranking, 2-1 head-to-head advantage—including a 6-4, 6-4 win over Hijikata in February's Delray Beach Open on hard courts—and strong recent form with quarterfinals at Miami Masters. Hijikata, ranked No. 102, builds momentum from a confident 6-4, 6-2 first-round upset of Aleksandar Kovacevic on Houston's clay, his initial surface win in a 16-10 2026 season. No injuries reported; Tiafoe's baseline power and River Oaks experience contrast Hijikata's grass upset via retirement, with clay favoring endurance in potential extended rallies.
