Norbert Gombos and Ivan Gakhov meet in the Menorca Challenger round of 32 on hard courts, a matchup trader consensus prices as virtually even given their comparable rankings—Gombos at No. 297 and Gakhov at No. 252—and balanced recent hard-court form. The 35-year-old Slovak veteran holds a 1-0 head-to-head lead, defeating Gakhov in three sets during Madrid Challenger qualifying last April, but the 29-year-old Russian arrives with fresher momentum, posting qualifier wins over Federico Arnaboldi and Francesco Forti in recent Challengers. Gombos, an eighth seed and former top-80 player, mixes wins like over Edas Butvilas with losses such as to Alastair Gray. No injuries or withdrawals noted; strong winds in Menorca may test servers and disrupt rallies on outdoor hard.
