Jay Clarke enters as the clear trader consensus favorite against qualifier Gabriel Ghetu in the Bucharest Open ATP 250 clay-court qualifying round, driven by a substantial ranking edge (No. 179 vs. No. 715) and greater professional experience at the Challenger and ATP levels. The 27-year-old Brit arrives off a recent Miami Challenger qualifying loss to Liam Draxl (1-2), showing solid clay form with a 5-9 record this year, while 18-year-old Romanian wild card Ghetu benefits from home-crowd support and familiarity on outdoor red clay but rides a short losing streak after falling 1-2 to Jeremy Gschwendtner in a local ITF event. No head-to-head history exists, leaving room for an upset via Ghetu's baseline grinding, though Clarke's superior serve and return stats tilt probabilities heavily in his favor absent late withdrawals or weather delays.
