In the ATP Challenger Menorca round of 16 on clay courts, fifth seed Justin Engel (world No. 186, Germany) faces Spaniard Alejo Sanchez Quilez (No. 527) in their first head-to-head matchup, scheduled for April 3 at Court 4. Both advanced via gritty three-set first-round wins yesterday—Engel over Iñaki Montes-De La Torre (7-5, 1-6, 6-3) and Sanchez Quilez rallying past his opponent (5-7, 6-4, 6-2)—showcasing resilience but potential early fatigue. The 18-year-old Engel rides strong recent Challenger form with four wins in his last five matches, while local favorite Sanchez Quilez gains home-crowd energy on familiar clay. No injury concerns reported; baseline endurance and serve effectiveness on outdoor conditions will be key factors.
