Francisco Cerundolo, ranked No. 20 with a 14-6 record in 2026, holds a ranking edge over No. 49 Stefanos Tsitsipas (11-7) entering their Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters round-of-64 clash on clay, where the Argentine's 62% career clay win rate and recent Miami upset over Daniil Medvedev underscore his baseline grinding prowess. Tsitsipas counters with three Monte Carlo titles, a flawless 2-0 head-to-head lead—including a three-set win over Cerundolo in Paris last October—and strong historical clay stats (75% wins), viewing the surface as a "rebirth" post-2025 back injury. No fresh injury reports for either, though both recover from prior ailments; expect a tactical battle favoring endurance on the slow Monte Carlo courts.
