A major August 17 outage exposed autoscaling limitations and was classified critical, while October 7 incidents degraded Git Operations alongside Actions, Pull Requests, and Issues before quick resolution. GitHub is actively rebuilding its Spokes-based Git infrastructure, decoupling storage and compute with Azure Blob Storage to target up to 35x higher write throughput.
