Dune: Part Three leads trader sentiment at 54% implied probability for the 2027 Oscars Best Visual Effects race, driven by the franchise’s prior wins in the category, Denis Villeneuve’s large-scale world-building, and its late-December 2026 IMAX release positioning it as a spectacle frontrunner. Project Hail Mary sits at 25.5% following its earlier 2026 debut and reports of roughly 2,000 VFX shots blending practical and digital elements. The Odyssey, Godzilla Minus Zero, and Marvel titles like Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday trail at single-digit odds, reflecting earlier releases or less dominant early industry chatter. With dozens of 2026 films clustered near 50% amid thin liquidity and the extended timeline before nominations, key swing factors include critical reception upon release, VES Awards visibility, and guild signals that historically shape the visual effects branch’s shortlist.
