The Phillies' managerial search remains wide open after Alex Cora declined the role for a second time in October, following his earlier rejection in April. Interim skipper Don Mattingly posted a strong 79-55 record after replacing Rob Thomson in late April and guiding the club into the postseason, yet the front office under Dave Dombrowski continues evaluating options amid an aging roster and impending CBA expiration. This has kept the field competitive, with Mattingly and Brad Ausmus leading a crowded group of experienced candidates including Rocco Baldelli and several others. Trader consensus reflects the uncertainty over whether the club will retain Mattingly, pursue external hires, or prioritize different leadership styles heading into 2027.
