**Incumbent Republican Clay Higgins faces a fragmented field of Democratic challengers in Louisiana’s 3rd congressional district under the state’s majority-vote system for the November 3, 2026 first round.** The solidly Republican district (R+22 Cook PVI) delivered Higgins 70.6% in 2024 with no GOP primary opposition after filings failed to materialize. Multiple Democratic candidates, including John Day, Tia LeBrun, Caleb Walker, and Priscilla Gonzalez, split the limited opposition vote while Higgins maintains dominant fundraising and institutional support, including a Trump endorsement. Forecasters rate the seat Safe or Solid Republican. These structural factors—partisan composition, incumbency advantage, and divided challengers—drive trader consensus that one candidate, most likely Higgins, will exceed 50% on election night and avoid the December 12 runoff. No recent polling or events have materially altered this outlook.
