**In Georgia’s 5th congressional district, a heavily Democratic seat centered on central Atlanta with a Cook PVI of roughly D+36, incumbent Nikema Williams faces Republican John Salvesen in the November 3, 2026 general election.** Williams secured the Democratic nomination with 88% in the May primary against limited opposition, while Salvesen advanced unopposed on the Republican side. The district’s structural partisan lean and the absence of competitive candidates or redistricting changes have produced lopsided historical results, including Williams’s 86-14% victory in 2024. Georgia’s majority-vote requirement for avoiding a December runoff is expected to be cleared comfortably by the Democratic nominee, consistent with the 93.2% trader-implied probability on an outright first-round win. No recent polling, endorsements, or events indicate a shift toward a closer contest that could trigger a runoff.
