Anthropic continues iterating rapidly on its Claude 4 series, with Opus 4.7 launched in April 2026 delivering gains in coding benchmarks, higher-resolution vision, and extended task handling, keeping the frontier model firmly in the 4.x family as of late May. This measured pace after earlier 4.x updates in February reflects a strategy prioritizing capability refinements and agentic features over a major version leap, amid competition from models like GPT-4o successors and Gemini updates. Trader sentiment for a Claude 5 release hinges on whether Anthropic accelerates toward next-generation architecture for improved reasoning and efficiency, with credible timelines pointing to Q2 or Q3 2026 absent any official confirmation. Key upcoming catalysts include potential developer conferences or earnings-related disclosures that could signal internal progress on benchmarks or partnerships.

For this market to resolve to "Yes," Claude 5 must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must be clearly defined and publicly announced by Anthropic as being accessible to the general public.
Claude 5 refers to a product explicitly named Claude 5 (e.g. Claude 5.0 would count), or one that is recognized as a successor to Claude 4, similar to the progression from Claude 2 to Claude 3. Products labeled as Claude 4.5 or similar will not count for this market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Anthropic, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.
