Lula maintains a commanding lead in Rio Grande do Norte first-round polling for the October 2026 presidential vote, with recent Quaest and Real Time surveys showing him at 56% against Flávio Bolsonaro at 19-27% and all other listed candidates at 3% or below. The state’s Northeast location reinforces this positioning, as voters there have historically backed PT candidates amid alignment on social programs and economic policies, reflected in Lula government approval ratings near 55-60%. Trader consensus at 97% for a Lula plurality aligns with this consistent regional gap and the fragmentation of right-leaning and minor candidates. Late developments such as the Supreme Federal Court institutional tensions have produced minimal polling shifts so far. Potential shifts could stem from a major scandal, health event, or unexpected opposition consolidation within the final weeks before the vote.
