Atlanta Falcons' midseason benching of Kirk Cousins in favor of rookie Michael Penix Jr. has traders heavily discounting his long-term future there (now at 2.1%), with his $180 million contract allowing a post-June 1 cut after 2025 carrying a manageable $53.5 million dead cap hit. This fuels a tight three-way race for his 2026-27 services among QB-uncertain contenders: Buffalo Bills (30.2%) amid Josh Allen's looming extension and injury history; Las Vegas Raiders (28.5%) desperate post-Geno Smith acquisition and coaching upheaval; Green Bay Packers (26.6%) wary of Jordan Love's sophomore inconsistencies despite recent deal. League-wide cap flexibility and veteran QB demand keep the field competitive, sidelining cap-strapped or settled teams like the Bears (4.2%).
