**The Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs lead the 2027 NBA champion market at 21.5% and 20.5% implied probability, respectively, reflecting their status as the Western Conference's premier young cores entering the 2026-27 season.** Both squads reached the 2025-26 conference finals or Finals with deep, versatile rosters anchored by MVP-caliber talent—Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams for Oklahoma City; Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper for San Antonio. The Thunder executed multiple offseason trades to shed salary and avoid the second apron while retaining Isaiah Hartenstein and adding frontcourt depth via draft picks such as Aday Mara. The Spurs secured Wembanyama on a five-year extension at the 25% maximum and added veteran forward Tobias Harris for frontcourt stability after their Finals appearance. The defending champion New York Knicks sit third at 11.5%, buoyed by core continuity around Jalen Brunson despite second-apron constraints and the departure of Mitchell Robinson. These factors, combined with the West's overall depth and the East's more fragmented contenders, keep the top probabilities closely bunched as teams prepare for training camp.

If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed team to be named as the champion of NBA for the 2026-27 season per the rules of NBA (e.g., participant is eliminated), the corresponding market will resolve to "No".
If multiple teams are declared winners, this market will resolve in favor of the team whose listed name comes first alphabetically.
If this event is cancelled, postponed after June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or a champion has not been declared within this timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other".
The resolution source will be official information from the NBA: however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
