Yu-Hsiou Hsu enters as the No. 3 seed and higher-ranked player at No. 215 against Renta Tokuda (No. 318) in the Miyazaki Challenger Round of 32 on outdoor hard courts, where trader consensus likely favors Hsu due to his prior straight-sets win over Tokuda in the 2023 Busan Challenger and recent M25 Launceston title on hard last month. Both arrive off early exits last week at Yokkaichi Challenger—Hsu falling in the Round of 16 to Yuta Shimizu after beating Jade Boulais, Tokuda losing in the Round of 16 to August Holmgren—highlighting modest momentum for the Taiwanese contender amid Tokuda's string of hard-court defeats. Home-crowd support aids the Japanese underdog, but no injury concerns or withdrawals alter the matchup.
