Trader consensus prices Michigan slightly ahead at 22.5% for the 2026 NCAA Tournament title amid a bunched top tier, reflecting a hyper-competitive landscape driven by elite recruiting hauls and transfer portal coups across blue-blood programs. Michigan's edge stems from new coach Dusty May's rapid rebuild, landing top-10 class recruits like Trey McNutt and portal stars such as Nimari Burnett and Vladislav Goldin, fueling optimism after their recent NIT success. Arizona (20.2%) boasts the class of 2025's top prize Koa Peat and depth additions, while Duke (17.5%) relies on phenom Cooper Flagg in the nation's No. 1 class but faces questions on immediate cohesion. Houston (10.5%) maintains consistency under Kelvin Sampson with returning core and gritty additions, keeping the race tight as NIL and transfer dynamics equalize talent distribution—no single powerhouse has emerged decisively pre-2025 season.
