The June 2026 update to the U.S. Department of Defense’s Section 1260H list added 65 entities, including Alibaba, Baidu, BYD, NIO, Unitree Robotics, WuXi AppTec, and memory chipmakers CXMT and YMTC, reflecting accelerated scrutiny of Chinese firms in AI, semiconductors, EVs, robotics, and biotech under the military-civil fusion framework. This expansion, following the January 2025 additions of Tencent and others, signals continued policy emphasis on supply-chain risks and procurement restrictions set to tighten through 2027. Traders are watching for further designations ahead of the next annual refresh, driven by competitive U.S.-China tech dynamics, potential executive or congressional actions, and any new DoD assessments of dual-use capabilities in large language models or autonomous systems.
