Paul St-Pierre Plamondon leads trader consensus for Quebec's next premier ahead of the October 5, 2026, provincial election, reflecting the Parti Québécois's sustained rise in polling averages since late 2023 on sovereignty and identity issues. Recent leadership changes have reshaped the field: Christine Fréchette succeeded François Legault as Coalition Avenir Québec leader and premier in April after a party vote, while Charles Milliard was acclaimed Liberal leader in February, narrowing gaps with the PQ but leaving both parties behind in current surveys. Éric Duhaime and Sol Zanetti trail as their parties hold smaller shares, with limited movement from recent by-elections or policy announcements. The market's distribution aligns with the competitive landscape, where shifts in voter turnout among francophone blocs or late campaign developments could still alter outcomes before election night.
