Leaks of OpenAI's internal progress on its next frontier model, codenamed "Spud" and widely expected to be branded GPT-6, have solidified trader consensus favoring the company as the releaser, with pre-training completed in late March 2026 at the Stargate data center and post-training reportedly finished ahead of a rumored April 14 launch that has not yet materialized. These reports highlight superior benchmarks—40% gains over GPT-5.4 in coding, reasoning, and agentic tasks—plus native multimodality and a 2 million token context window, amid resource shifts like canceling Sora to prioritize compute. Competitive pressure from Anthropic's Mythos previews and Claude updates keeps alternatives viable, but OpenAI's naming convention and skin-in-the-game bets point to them. Watch for official announcements or API rollouts by late April, with resolution thresholds tied to public availability by June 30.

For this market to resolve to "Yes," GPT-6 must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must be clearly defined and publicly announced by OpenAI as being accessible to the general public.
GPT-6 refers to a product explicitly named GPT-6 (e.g. ChatGPT-6o would count), or one that is recognized as a successor to GPT-5, similar to the progression from GPT-3 to GPT-4. Products labeled as GPT-5.5 or similar will not count for this market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from OpenAI, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.
