Trader consensus on Polymarket assigns an 81% implied probability to Anthropic releasing Claude 5 by September 30, 2026, reflecting caution after the May 4 launch of Claude Opus 4.7, which topped coding benchmarks like SWE-bench at 87.6% despite competitive pressure from OpenAI's recent GPT-5.5 rollout. No official Claude 5 announcement has materialized amid rumors of a "Sonnet 5 Fennec" variant, while new compute partnerships—including a fresh SpaceX deal and expanded Amazon Bedrock integration—signal ramped-up capacity for next-gen large language model training. User backlash over model nerfs and rate limits adds friction, but upcoming Google I/O (May 19-20) could shift dynamics via Gemini 3 reveals, with resolution hinging on public general access per Anthropic statements.

For this market to resolve to "Yes," Claude 5 must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must be clearly defined and publicly announced by Anthropic as being accessible to the general public.
Claude 5 refers to a product explicitly named Claude 5 (e.g. Claude 5.0 would count), or one that is recognized as a successor to Claude 4, similar to the progression from Claude 2 to Claude 3. Products labeled as Claude 4.5 or similar will not count for this market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Anthropic, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.
