US Department of Defense updates to its Section 1260H list of Chinese military companies have accelerated in 2025–2026, with the January 2025 revision adding over 70 entities including Tencent, CATL, COSCO, and SenseTime, followed by a June 2026 expansion of 65 more names such as Alibaba, Baidu, BYD, Nio, Unitree Robotics, and multiple battery and solar firms. These moves reflect heightened scrutiny of artificial intelligence, semiconductor, drone, robotics, and electric vehicle supply chains tied to military applications. Trader sentiment for 2027 additions centers on further expansion into large language model developers, chipmakers, and autonomous systems firms amid ongoing US export controls and competitive decoupling. The next statutory update is expected early in 2027, with outcomes likely shaped by new defense authorizations, executive actions, or verified supply-chain links.
